All too often ladies get all the attention when it comes to senior photos so today we will instead show off some of our personal favorites from Sam’s senior session. Sam is a senior at Dublin Jerome High School and has been very active in football and track throughout his entire high school career. For Sam’s senior session Scioto Park in Dublin, OH made for a perfect location with lots of photo options. While Scioto Park is not very well known, it has so many great areas for pictures. There is a stream in the back, tons of greenery and unique trees, and even a gorgeous stone wall.

Senior Photos Outfit Tip: For our senior guys who typically go with our shortest session we recommend 2 outfits, 1 dressy and one casual. By having a mix of dressy and casual attire, it really gives a lot of variety to the photos. Also this mix of outfits gives some great options for yearbook portraits and graduation announcements. Button down shirts are a great option for guys to wear for their dressier outfit. Button downs allow for a lot of different looks as they can be worn like Sam has it below or unbuttoned with a shirt underneath.

After his first outfit Sam changed into jeans and a plain T-shirt which is a classic look. This look is timeless and it can be worn against a variety of backdrops and always look amazing.

Scheduling Tip: Are you just loving that gorgeous sun behind Sam in these photos? To ensure the best light for our portrait sessions we schedule so that they’ll end right before sunset or we will start just after sunrise so that we have the chance to get this beautiful glow. It always make your skin look great and it adds a little something extra to the pictures.

Another Senior Outfit Tip: Letterman Jackets are a great item to bring to your session. It’s a great layering piece that can be very versatile when adding variety to your images. It’s also a great way to show off your personality and school pride.

Family Photos are always a great add on at the end of your shoot
While this is YOUR senior year, your senior photos are momental moment for everyone in your family. For instance, while you may be sharing your photos on every #SeniorSunday until graduation, your parents will be hanging these pictures on their living room walls. Your parents want to be a part of your senior pictures. They might want to help you pick out outfits or just tag along and watch which we always highly suggest.
For your parents this is big moment of seeing their little baby all grown up. On numerous occasions we’ve shown moms the back of our camera during sessions and they just start crying. In that moment, that’s when it all becomes real to them. You are no longer a little boy or girl anymore. Soon you’ll be headed off to college or the workforce and you’ll want a photo of your whole family together to be framed in your dorm room or apartment.
For that reason we allow for the last 10 minutes of your session to be a quick mini session of family photos. This is a great opportunity for family time at the end of the shoot. We can get plenty of photo options in a very short amount of time. For instance, we can get photos with just mom or just dad which are great for sharing on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Trust us when we tell you years from now these will be some of the most treasured images from your senior session.
